Kauri: The Traditional Board Game · Last updated: not yet dated · Operated by the Kauri developer

Kauri ("the game") is a traditional Indian board game played with cowrie shells. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Android app, the game server and this website.

2. Online play

When you play with friends, the game creates a guest profile on our server. There is no sign-in, email address or password.

This data is stored on servers run for us by our hosting and database providers, and travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Advertising (Android app)

The Android app shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC): between matches, and as optional reward videos you choose to watch. Ads never appear during a match.

  • What Google may collect: Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, app interactions, diagnostics and approximate location (derived from the IP address), to show, measure and personalise ads and to prevent fraud. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
  • Consent: in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and other regions where it is required, the app shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy → Privacy & ad choices.
  • Advertising ID: you can reset or delete it in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
  • Remove Ads: the one-time "Remove Ads Permanently" purchase turns off all ads, including reward videos.

4. Purchases

Purchases (Remove Ads, premium themes) are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details: the app only receives Google Play's confirmation that you own an item, and uses it on your device to unlock that item. See Google's privacy policy.

5. This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. If you send a deletion request, we store the email address and the details you enter only until we have handled the request, and then delete them.

6. Deleting your data

  • In the app: Settings → Player → Delete online profile deletes your guest profile and statistics, and removes your name from past matches, immediately.
  • On the web: use the deletion request form.
  • On your device: uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on the device. Purchases stay attached to your Google account.

7. Children

Kauri is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an online profile, use the deletion options above.

8. Changes

We will update this page when the game's data practices change, and change the date at the top.
